Get Golfing, renowned for its commitment to providing exceptional golfing experiences, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA). EDGA is a not-for-profit, volunteer led organisation, active in the promotion and delivery of opportunities to sample, participate and compete in golf. This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in the journey towards making golf accessible to individuals of all abilities
The Get Golfing G4D (Golf for Disabled) Series, a cornerstone of this partnership, consists of three EDGA WR4GD ranking events held at Get Golfing venues, with the first taking place at Pyrford Lakes, July 26th 2024, followed by one at The Club at Mill Green (August 23rd) and then the final event taking Hampton Court Palace Golf Club on September 6th 2024. These events are set to redefine inclusivity in golf, offering a platform for disabled golfers to showcase their talent and compete at the highest level.
As the most inclusive club operator globally, Get Golfing has been working closely with EDGA to ensure that their staff, courses, clubhouses, and community areas are as inclusive-friendly and accessible as possible. EDGA delivered a Development 3 (D3) training session at two Get Golfing sites back in January, providing the staff with vital insights and training into the challenges of accommodating golfers with a disability. This commitment underscores Get Golfing’s dedication to providing an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the sport of golf.
Dan Lucking, CEO of Get Golfing, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “At Get Golfing, we believe that golf should be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ability. Our collaboration with EDGA represents a significant step forward in making this vision a reality. Together, we are committed to creating inclusive and empowering experiences for golfers with a disability and the Get Golfing G4D Series is just the beginning of our journey together”.
“Dr. Tony Bennett, President of EDGA, stated that through our partnership with Get Golfing and the G4D series, we are not just creating opportunities, we are creating a community regardless of ability.
Speaking about the partnership with Get Golfing and the G4D Series, Dr Tony Bennett, President of EDGA, said: This signifies a transformative step towards making golf inclusive for all and enables players with limitations in a complex blend of physical, sensory, cognitive or emotional skills to compete at the highest level.
The Get Golfing G4D Series stands as a beacon of inclusivity and innovation in the golfing community. It not only amplifies access to the sport for individuals with disability but also underscores the pioneering spirit of both EDGA and Get Golfing in reshaping the landscape of golf.
